  Chief Development Officer

Chief Development Officer

Postion will:

  • Work closely with Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors to develop and implement a fundraising plan with short term and long term goals and objectives that incorporate the organization’s mission and strategic plans.
  • Lead effort to reach fundraising goals not only for RTH’s regular homeowner base (approximately $3.5 million annually), but also special needs such as Hurricane Harvey relief (projected to be $15 million over the next four years).
  • With the Executive Director and Board, establish/maintain relationships with current and prospective donors.
  • Oversee and directly participate in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts from individual, foundation and corporate donors.
  • Draft funding proposals and requested reports and maintain annual calendar of deadlines.
  • Work closely with Director of Volunteer Programming and Special Events to coordinate opportunities for prospective donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Track and monitor fundraising progress and present updates to CEO and Board.
  • Serve as a representative of the organization in the philanthropic community and with other constituencies in order to promote the organization.

Skills:

  • Dedication to and passion for the organization’s mission.
  • 10+ years of fundraising or transferable experience.
  • Knowledge of the Houston philanthropic community.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with donors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work successfully with volunteers and staff.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to accountability, outcomes, and results.
  • Ability to work in an environment of tight resources and never-ending needs of low-income client families.
  • Baseline certification in fund raising, the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Professional) is preferred.

Education: Bachelors Degree
