January 29, 2016 – In 2015, thousands of residents throughout Houston were impacted by flooding. Mr. Boyd, a Vietnam Veteran living in northeast Houston, was one of those residents. High water damaged the exterior and interior his home, with the most damage in his 6-year old granddaughter’s room.

He has been an active part of the Rebuilding Together Houston team for more than 30 years:  developing new programs, assessing the construction needs at the home sites, and physically helping to repair them.

Oct. 17-18th & 24th, 2015 – Sitting on his porch under a rotted piece of plywood roofing, a grinning Mr. Carter slowly and quietly states that getting his home repaired “would be a blessing.” Together for 34 years, Mr. and Mrs. Carter have lived in their home for 14 years after it was deeded to them through a local church’s assistance.
