Serving Veterans- Ms. Roberson

Veteran Francine Roberson served our country in the U.S. Army for 6 years. Recently she has been unable to keep up with repairs on her 60-year-old home in South Park. Now in her time of need, women in construction are serving her.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, the National Association of Women in Construction partnered with Rebuilding Together for a 40th Anniversary special repair project. More than 30 female volunteers representing Houston construction companies completed repairs to her home including renovations to siding, caulking, and replacing windows. Their work followed months of contractor work provided by Rebuilding Together at no cost to Ms. Roberson.

“Every year during the first week of March we celebrate our Women in Construction Week,” said Nora Casanova of Karsten Interior Services. “[It’s] purpose is to highlight women as a visible and vital component of the construction industry.” Karsten Interior Services coordinated this volunteer collaboration.

By proclamation, March 6-12, 2022 was officially recognized as Women in Construction Week in the City of Houston, Harris County, and the State of Texas.
